"This true story, for me, is nothing short of miraculous- a testament to human (and especially female) strength, power, ingenuity and unfailing spirit."

Joyce

"I haven't been so moved by a book in years. This is a must read. The strength, courage and love is remarkable!"

Dorothy

The remarkable true story of finding life in between our fears.

When the author first moves to eastern Congo, she stumbles through a new language and culture, trying to construct a life for herself in a city built on the edge of disaster. Searching for community, she becomes friends with two Congolese women who navigate life on crutches with an unforgettable measure of camaraderie, laughter, and faith. This story follows the three women on a decade-long journey, spanning continents and leading to a world they never imagined.

The Place Between Our Fears is at once a love song to Congo and a gripping saga of war, poverty, and displacement. Ultimately it is a soaring story of faith, friendship and motherhood and a call to community in the face of every fear.

It’s a thrilling read with many twists and turns.so many that I had to put the book down for a day or two just to absorb the enormity of what was going on. This book, along with a bag made by these ladies, would be a great holiday present. I only say so because that is exactly what I’m doing this year!
